The Canadian Government in collaboration with Canadian Universities and academic institutions is currently accepting applications for their ‘Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS).
As it is, ‘Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS)’ is a scholarship program by the Canadian Government in collaboration with Canadian Universities and Academic institutions that gives financial benefits to exceptional students who wish to pursue a doctoral degree (or combined MA/PhD or MD/PhD) at any University or Academic Institution in Canada. N.B: Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and so would be awarded only to applicants who meet up to academic and other eligibility requirements.
Application Deadline: The scholarship application is offered on an annual basis. Applications are open until 2nd Nov 2021 (annual).

Course Starts: The course starts between May and September 2022. This, of course, is dependent on Canadian individual universities and or academic institutions
Number of Awards: Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships are awarded annually to up to 166 Scholars.
Host Institution/Board(s): The Canadian Government in collaboration with Canadian Universities and Academic Institutions. Expectedly, not all Canadian universities are participating in this program.
Eligible Field of Study
These are some of the selected Ph.D. programmes (or combined MA/PhD or MD/PhD) applicants can choose from, including:
° health research
° engineering research
° and/or natural sciences
° social sciences
° and/or humanities research
The scholarships awarded are worth up to $50,000 to be awarded to eligible or qualified applicants for the period of three years.
To be eligible to apply for these scholarships by the Canadian Government, applicants must:
- must not hold, or have held, a doctoral-level scholarship or fellowship from CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC to undertake or complete a doctoral degree
- have completed no more than 20 months of doctoral studies as of 1 May 2022
- have completed no more than 32 months of full-time study in their doctoral program, by 1 May 2022 if:
- be nominated by only one Canadian institution, which must have received a Vanier CGS quote
