This blog post covers a number of fixes for when POF can’t send a message properly. These solutions can be used when messages are not sent or when POF appears offline, and when a DM has been sent but doesn’t seem to have been delivered to the recipient.
Why is POF not sending messages? There are different reasons why your POF is not sending messages properly. The POF service experiencing issues or being offline, restrictions placed on an account by contact or POF support, Internet connectivity issues, or an out-of-date POF app or operating system.
How to Fix POF Messages Not Sending
Tip: If POF is not working correctly and you can’t send or receive messages, this could be a server issue. Check the service status to see if POF is down.
If there are no known issues affecting POF servers, maybe the issue is on your end and you need to do further troubleshooting steps.
1. Turn Airplane Mode on and Off Again
Turning on Airplane Mode depends on your platform. Turn off Airplane Mode on your Android smartphone or tablet. For iPhone or iPad: Active Airplane Mode on iPhone or iPad. On Windows: Activate Airplane Mode on Windows, wait two minutes, and then deactivate the mode. This will reset your internet connection and has been known to POF Message not sending issues.
2. Restart Your Device/Phone
Restarting your phone has been trusted for years as a remedy to many problems on a smartphone. Just as taking a nap resets your brain, restarting your phone resets the phone memory and can solve some problems along with it.
If you’re not familiar with this, you can restart your phone by long-pressing the power key for about 7-10 seconds or you can make use of the common Android method; long-press the Power key until you see the power menu. Tap on Restart and wait for your phone to reboot. Some devices require you to swipe one way or another to restart your phone.
3. Clean Up Your POF Profile.
POF can temporarily restrict POF privileges if you message too many accounts, have sent abusive messages, or own a suspicious account.
To get your access back, make sure your account uses your real name and photo, resist posting controversial subject matter on POF, refrain from getting into arguments, and wait for one to two weeks for the restrictions to lift.
4. Clear Cache for POF
The POF issue might happen if the cache file is corrupted or getting out of hand. Though, the cache allows your apps to store some data temporarily, which makes them run faster and use few resources; you should clear it when it’s causing the POF app to malfunction. Here’s how to do it:
- Open your phone Settings and open the Apps & Notifications
- Find the POF on the list and open it.
- On the App info interface, click on Storage & Cache.
- Tap Clear Storage to delete all the stored cache.
- Restart POF and try using it to see if it works.
5. Reset All Your Settings
We hope you can receive POF notifications by now. If not, you can try resetting app preferences on your phone. Don’t panic, you won’t lose any data.
Resetting app preferences on your phone will re-enable apps and app notifications, restore default applications for actions, reset background data restrictions for apps, and reset any permission restrictions.
So, if your POF app is not working because you’ve changed some settings on your phone, resetting app preferences will fix it for you. Here’s how to do it;
- Open Settings on your phone and scroll to the bottom.
- Click on System.
- Tap Reset options.
- Carefully select Reset app preferences from the options.
- Confirm the action by pressing RESET APPS on the screen.
6. A Contact Has Blocked You
Did the person, on the other hand, blocked you on POF? You can check your current friendship status from the POF app or the web. If that’s the case, then there are two scenarios here. You can still send a message if the other person allows anyone to message them.
With POF’s privacy options, users can disable the Direct Message option for those who aren’t on their friend list. You won’t be able to send messages now.
7. Enable Background Data
If you don’t receive notifications after switching from POF to another app or when you’re on the screen, background data might be turned off for POF. Restricting background data for apps is a means of cutting down mobile data usage on Android.
The restricted apps only connect to the internet when you’re using them. But it’s not ideal to restrict your work and social apps from using data in the background.
In case you’ve unknowingly turned on background data restriction for the POF app, here’s how to add it to the exception list.
- Open Settings on your phone; then click on Apps & Notifications bn
- Tap Manage apps or See all apps to view your apps.
- Locate and open POF on the list.
- Tap on Mobile data & Wi-Fi.
- Ensure Background data is turned on or do so.
- Also, if you wish to keep POF active when Data Saver is active, enable unrestricted data usage.
8. Turn Off Power Saving Mode
While this mode allows you to extend your battery life by limiting the number of processes running in the background, it can also block certain apps or app features that are draining your battery.
To turn off power saving on Android:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Battery.
- Select disable Power Saving Mode and check if POF is working properly now.
To do this on iOS, go to Settings then tap on Battery and turn Low Power Mode off.
