Cloud storage has become increasingly popular as a data storage tool, providing an alternative to physical hard drives, especially with the widespread availability of broadband Internet access. However, like any data repository, cloud storage can accumulate unnecessary files over time. This raises the need for organizing and cleaning up folders on the server.
Yandex Disk, one of the rapidly growing services in this field, offers two primary methods for clearing storage.
The first method involves using Yandex Disk’s user-friendly web interface, specifically designed for file and folder management. To access it, you need a web browser. Through the web interface, you can easily navigate and organize your files, allowing you to delete or move unnecessary ones.
Cleaning using the web interface simplifies the process of decluttering your Yandex Disk storage, giving you control over the files and enabling efficient management of your data.
How to clear Yandex Disk
Method 1: Cleaning using the web interface
To clear your Yandex Disk storage using the web interface, follow these steps:
1. Open your preferred web browser and log in to your Yandex account. From there, select the Drive service.
2. You will see a list of files and folders in your storage. To select files and folders for deletion, use the left mouse button to set a checkbox next to their icons. This checkbox appears when you hover the mouse over the file or folder.
3. Once you have made your selections, go to the menu located on the right side of the interface. From the menu, choose the “Delete” option.
4. The selected files and folders will be moved to the Trash folder. To permanently delete them from Drive, click on the Trash folder with the left mouse button. Then, click on “Clean” and confirm your consent in the dialogue box that appears.
By following these steps, you can efficiently remove unwanted files and folders from your Yandex Disk storage using the web interface.
Method 2: To clear the Yandex.disk app folder, follow these steps:
1. Download and install the Yandex.Disk application to your device. This application allows you to manage the contents of your storage.
2. After installation, you will find a new directory named “Yandex.disk” within the “Computer” folder.
3. Open the Explorer program and navigate to the “Yandex.disk” folder. You will see its contents displayed.
4. To delete unnecessary files, use the same method as you would in the operating system itself. For Windows, this involves selecting the desired content and pressing the Delete key on your keyboard or right-clicking and selecting “Delete.”
When you delete files in this manner, they will be sent to the recycle bin of your operating system. To permanently erase them, you should empty the recycle bin.
Furthermore, the deleted files will also be moved to the Trash folder on the Drive server, providing an additional layer of backup and deletion confirmation.
