CSUF Canvas: Helpful Guide to Student Instructure

CSUF Canvas is a course management system that supports student eLearning and teaching. It allows educators to publish course syllabus, take attendance, grades, assignments, initiate discussion, or direct communication.

The CSUF Canvas Instructure lets students submit their course assignments and interact with fellow students and their educators online. While CSUF educators post information on the Canvas portal, students login to check and complete their assignments, view course materials and monitor their grades.

It also facilitates message connection between students and educators and contains course and institutional syllabus information for all students to access. Students utilize the CSUF Canvas for a variety of online learning and collaboration with their fellow students and academic staff.

CSUF Canvas Login on Desktop

1. Visit the CSUF Canvas portal on https://my.fullerton.edu/Portal/SignOut.aspx

2. At the top, click CANVAS.

3. Click LOG IN to Canvas.

4. Log in with your CSUF username and password.

CSUF Login on Canvas Student App 

The Canvas Student app allows you to access your courses using a mobile device. With the Canvas app, you can access your courses on the go on your mobile phone. 

Once you login CSUF with the Canvas app you can view your grades and course content, submit assignments, receive push notifications for new grades and course updates, keep track of course work with to-do list and calendar, watch videos, send and receive messages, post to discussions, and take quizzes on the go.

To download the app to your mobile or tablet device go to your app store and search for Canvas Student. Once you have successfully downloaded and opened the Canvas student app:

1. Search for CSUF or enter the full name of your school.

2. At the top, click on the CSUF Canvas option.

3. Click LOG IN to Canvas under the Canvas logo

4. Log in using the same username and password that you normally use to access the school systems. You must know your “User ID” otherwise you’ll have an error.

Find your Courses on CSUF Canvas

1. Login to your CSUF Canvas accoCSUF

2. Click on “Go to your dashboard”

3. Once you’ve clicked on the dashboard, you will see your courses, each is designated by a unique color. 

How to Enroll Courses on CSUF Canvas

1. Log in to your Canvas accoCSUF if you are not already logged in.

2. Scroll to the “Course” section and click on the option.

3. You will see a list of the available courses, select the one you want to register for.

4. Click on “Enroll”.

How to Change Course on CSUF Canvas

Log in to your Canvas dashboard, you’ll see your courses there, you can add or edit your courses. Here’s how: 

1. Click on “Courses in the left navigation. A list of your courses will appear in a drop-down menu.

2. Select “All Courses to show all your current, future, and past enrollments

3. Select the name of the course that you would like to add or change on your dashboard.

4. Or, you can customize your courses that appear in the drop-down menu. This allows you to choose different courses to appear on your dashboard.

Note that you can’t start a course that has not been published by your teacher. Your course may not be available in the CSUF Canvas portal CSUFil after the course has started. If you’re currently enrolled in a course that has started and don’t find it in the course list on your Canvas dashboard, please contact your instructor, the course may not have been made visible yet on the Canvas Student portal.
